Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Our Internet has been down since before Christmas so we've had to post here and there at other people's houses. Now, thanks to a Christmas gift, we're up and running and I can post. It's been a busy holiday season, and as you can see from the picture, if I had just waited a while we would have had no problem getting enough snow for our snowman.
There was enough snow for Brian to build Aaron a snow cave in the backyard. There were probably 5 or six inches at one point. So we had a White Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, we have more candy canes and junk food lying around than we eat all year long, so for family night we made snowmen...
On cookie sheets in the kitchen (it is REALLY cold outside) using candy for decorations. This was a win situation for everyone because the kids could eat their handiwork afterwards and I didn't have to put together a treat for them.
If you look closely at Aaron's forehead you can see evidence of his encounter with a snowbank when we went sledding a few weeks ago with his cousins. Brian was actually on the sled with him when it happened, but when you ask him how he got his scab he says, "Mommy hurt me," which is not true. The incident to which he is referring did happen the same day when I plowed over him sliding downhill in a tube, but left no battle scars. Nevertheless, when pulls off the scab every night so he can ask for a band aid, he still says, "Mommy, you hurt me."

Here is BreeAnna enjoying the activity...
And here is BreeAnna not enjoying the activity. That's kind of how snow is for her. She thinks it's pretty cool until she gets cold and then she gets upset really fast. We did it in the warm kitchen so she wouldn't cry, but what can I say; you win some, you lose some.

In other news, Brian has just been called to be a counselor in the Young Men's Presidency in our church. That means he's in charge of helping the boys ages 12 and 13 plan their activities and get their certifications in Boy Scouts, and teach their Sunday School lessons. The boys actually like to teach the lessons though, so he has not had to plan a lesson yet. He went on a winter camp out with the boys the other night though and brought all kinds of extra gear in case someone forgot something. Well, it was 11 degrees outside that night, so all of his extra gear was used. One scout even forgot his sleeping bag. He just brought a blanket. Thankfully, a scout's leader is always prepared and no scouts got hypothermia or frostbite.
Brian also got a job working in security for the state of Idaho. He is going through training for the next month and then will begin his regular work schedule. Congratulations Brian!
